Mahogany is one of Calgary's newest and most-watched communities — lakefront homes, modern infills, and the kind of open-plan layouts that beg for built-in millwork.
Mahogany homes tend to be newer builds with 9-foot ceilings, generous primary closets framed in by the original builder, and laundry rooms positioned for serious daily use. Mahogany floor plans usually leave room for a substantial walk-in closet. The trick is fitting it out so it doesn't feel like a stripped-down builder closet just six months in.

Local insight: what works in Mahogany homes
A few patterns we've noticed in higher-end West Calgary builds:
- The basement closet matters. Mahogany homes often include a basement secondary suite — a built-in wardrobe down there meaningfully raises rental value.
- Lakefront homes want hidden storage. When the view is the feature, you don't want cluttered shelves competing with it. Closed slab fronts beat open shelving here.
- Mudrooms get hammered in winter. Lake access means wet shoes, hockey gear, paddleboards. Build the bench cavity vented for drying.
- Newer homes have squarer walls. Mahogany construction is recent enough that the walls measure square. We still scribe, but installs go fast.
