Why Tuscany homes deserve custom millwork
Tuscany is one of the largest established communities in NW Calgary — ridge views, mature trees, and a wide mix of home sizes. We've built more closets in Tuscany than almost any other neighbourhood.
Tuscany homes range from late-90s builds with original wire shelving to recent renovations in need of a complete primary-suite redo. Replacing the original Tuscany builder closet with a proper fitted wardrobe is one of our most-requested jobs in the northwest — clean installs, usually no surprise framing.
Where we've worked in the area
We've built recently in Tuscany, Tuscany Hills, Tuscany Ridge, Rocky Ridge, Royal Oak, Crestmont, Lynx Ridge, and adjacent NW ridge communities. Same crew, same shop. See recent installations →
What we build for Tuscany clients
- Estate-scale walk-in closets — three walls of cabinetry, centre island, integrated lighting, valet rod.
- Floor-to-ceiling fitted wardrobes — sized to the wall, soft-close throughout, brass or black hardware.
- His-and-hers primary closets — separated layouts, shared shoe storage, mirrors with concealed LED.
- Mudroom built-ins for the double-garage entry — tall cabinets, bench, hooks, drawers below.
- Walk-in pantries — wraparound shelves, butcher block counter, hidden appliance garage.
- Office & library built-ins — fluted accent walls, slab credenzas, integrated storage.
Local insight: what works in Tuscany homes
A few patterns we've noticed in higher-end West Calgary builds:
- The walk-in closets are usually right-sized. Tuscany primary closets are typically 6×7 or 6×8 — a perfect U-shape or L-shape walk-in footprint.
- Vaulted ceilings need scribed tops. Several Tuscany floor plans have a slight ceiling slope into the primary closet — we scribe the top of every cabinet rather than capping it short.
- The 90s closet door has to go. Bi-fold louvred doors are common in older Tuscany builds. Replace them with a single full-height slab door, painted to match trim, and the room reads ten years newer.
- Mudrooms benefit from the garage door step. Tuscany homes often enter from the garage at half-flight up — a built-in bench tucked under the stairs is a low-cost, high-impact move.
Working with us in Tuscany
We come to you. A designer measures your space, brings hardware and finish samples, and listens to how you actually use the room. After the consult you get 3D renderings, a full spec sheet, and a written fixed quote — no estimates, no surprise line items.
We mill, finish, and pre-assemble in our Calgary shop. Once it's in the truck, we install it in your home — drop-cloths down, careful work, and we clean up before we leave. See the full process →
